Bali has many stunning waterfalls flowing through its jungle landscape. There are so many options that we had a hard time choosing which ones to visit in the time we had! While in Ubud, we headed out to Tibumana Waterfall, and after our visit, we definitely recommend adding this beautiful cascade to your itinerary.

Getting to Tibumana Waterfall
Tibumana Waterfall sits about a 30 to 45-minute drive from the heart of Ubud, though that can vary quite a bit depending on traffic.
If you don’t have your own scooter or car to reach the waterfall, you can easily grab a taxi or Grab/Gojek. Note that the “taxi mafia” is prevalent in Ubud, so Grab and Gojek drivers may only pick you up in certain areas of the city to avoid issues. If you’d like your driver to wait for you at the waterfall to take you back, ask beforehand and agree on a price. For Grab and Gojek, you may have to walk down the road from the waterfall parking area for pickup because they are only allowed to drop visitors off here.
If you’re planning to see a few sights in the area, you may consider hiring a driver for a half-day or full-day excursion. We wanted to visit Tibumana Waterfall, Suwat Waterfall, and Goa Gajah Temple this day, so we opted to hire a driver. There are various Bali companies that advertise their driver services online that you can reach out to. We just asked our hotel if they knew of somebody to drive us and they provided contact info for us to reach out via WhatsApp.
If you’d like a structured visit to some highlights in the area, there are various tours that include Tibumana in the itinerary. Tours can be found online on sites like Get Your Guide, Viator, and individual company sites. You can also find options at tour offices as you walk around Ubud.
Upon arrival, there’s a large parking area where you can park your car or scooter or where your driver will wait as you hike down to the waterfall. Parking costs Rp5,000 if you drive your own vehicle. We weren’t required to pay for parking with our local driver.

Fees & Hours
As of early 2025, it costs Rp25,000 per person to visit Tibumana Waterfall. This is only payable in cash. There are also lockers available for Rp5,000.
Tibumana Waterfall is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. per Google hours, though there isn’t anything preventing visitors from accessing the area outside of those hours. There are a few warungs and souvenir vendors around the parking area that don’t begin to open until between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. and close between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Some of these accept card.

Our Visit to Tibumana Waterfall – What to Expect
We headed out of Ubud to reach Tibumana near when it opened. Our driver parked, we paid our entrance fee, and we began the decent to the falls. The stairs didn’t last long, and soon we found ourselves by the river. The ravine is quite beautiful and we were surrounded by lush, vegetation-covered cliffs as we followed the path and series of bamboo walkways towards the falls.

Before we knew it, we were at Tibumana. We had heard that many Bali waterfalls can get very busy, so we arrived early to beat the crowds. To our surprise, there wasn’t anybody else down at the falls with us. We only saw a bride and groom leaving after their photo session as we walked down the stairs and a couple other tourists arrived at the falls as we were leaving. But, there is supposedly usually a staff member who monitors the lockers and waterfall area during the day. There is a toilet and changing area down here, too.

We were in Bali on the edge of rainy season and the falls still had a decent flow. The thick ribbon of water poured off the lush cliff to a large pool below. During drier times of year (April to October) and depending on recent rains, the water flow may be less and the pool below the falls may be a bit smaller and more shallow.

We hung out by the falls for a little while, wading in the cool water and enjoying the scenery. We then began to head back up the way we came. Before ascending the stairs back up to the parking area, we stopped at another little cascade just off the main path. There is a small temple area near the river there, too.

This area is truly beautiful and we definitely recommend arriving early to enjoy the tranquility of it. We grabbed a coffee from one of the warungs near the parking area. Then off we went to our next stop: Suwat Waterfall.
