Getting to Uffizi Gallery

Uffizi Gallery sits in the heart of Florence near to many restaurants, hotels, and other popular attractions. So, it is most commonly reached on foot. The museum sits along the Arno river between Ponte Vecchio and Ponte alle Grazie (two bridges). Once at the museum, enter the building from the west side via the Uffizi Plaza.

There are also public trams and buses available in the city. Some of the closest bus stops include Galleria Degli Uffizi and Diaz, both served by bus C1, and Borgo San Iacopo and Bardi just across the river, both served by buses C3 & C4. Check lines and timetables here. We didn’t take any buses while in Florence, but we were staying a bit outside the city center, so we took the tram into the heart of the city some days. The closest tram stop to Uffizi Gallery is Unitá, which is about a 15-minute walk away.

If you drive, there are some paid lots and street parking on the surrounding streets. Note that parking in the heart of the city is limited and spots can be hard to come by.

Uffizi Gallery Tickets

Tickets to Uffizi Gallery cost €25 per ticket, plus €4 if you book a time slot online in advance. During busy times of year, you may want to consider booking your ticket in advance to guarantee your entrance and avoid the long ticketing lines.

There is also a combination ticket, which costs €40 and covers entrance to Uffizi, Boboli Gardens, and Pitti Palace over 5 consecutive days. With this ticket, you must select your time slot for Uffizi and visit that site first. This is what we opted for as this combo ticket was cheaper than buying the three individually and we wanted to visit all of these spots.

There are other ticket options and conditions for free admission. Learn more and book your tickets online here.

An audio guide for the museum costs €6.

This museum is pretty large and it would take a very long time to actually stop and take in each piece. So if you’re interested in art, we’d recommend searching through the various works on display through the website to see which ones you specifically want to see. Otherwise, just stroll through and stop at the ones that catch your attention. We spent the first half of our day here and genuinely enjoyed our visit!
